Pressing Through to Get To

There are times in life that it appears no matter what you do, you are stopped at every turn. You know you are on the path to do what the Lord has told you to do, but still there is opposition at every turn.  Everything around you appears to be falling apart.  The family is in turmoil.  Things at the job are going crazy.  Your bank account has seen better days.  There is more month than money.  All of these things started to go haywire, the moment you began your new journey.  When you were in your comfort zone, things moved smoothly. You knew what to do, how to do it, when to do it, etc.  You were so good at it, you could move on autopilot.  But now, things are different. You are out in the middle of the ocean, at night, and it appears you are alone.  And the only reason you are here, in the middle of what appears to be nowhere, is because the Lord said go. One would think that since He sent you, this would be an easy, smooth road. However, I am finding that this is not always the case.  There are times in life that we have to press in order to get to our breakthrough, and the promises of God.

Philippians 3:14 says: I press toward the mark of the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.  It is a press to get to what God has called us to. It is not always an easy journey.  And to be honest, in life, that is truly worth it, is it easy? That what we have to press and work to get, we tend to appreciate it more.  Pressing requires me to push beyond what is happening, what I see, what I feel.  Pressing requires me to go beyond what I think is my limit and push beyond that which feels comfortable.  Pressing is active…it requires work.  We must be actively engaged in the process.

Pressing has another component. Sometimes, pressing is used with the iron. The iron is hot, and designed to get the wrinkles out of things. The iron is heated up hot, and with pressure, used to get the wrinkles out. Sometimes the iron is set low, and used very delicately, based on the material. It is low as to not burn or scorch the item. It is important to know what material you are dealing with in order to protect it, and not damage it.  But other times, we have to increase the heat, and put pressure on it, and press out the wrinkles.

Sometimes God will increase the heat, in order for us to press hard and get the wrinkles out of our life.  Other times, He keeps the heat low, and sets it to delicate because He knows we are in a delicate state. Either way, the end result is the same: the wrinkles in our life are out.

So with the mindset of pressing, I press on. I need to press in order to reach the place(s) that God has for me.  I press out the wrinkles of anything that is not aligned with the will of God for my life. I press out the noise and distractions around me. I press out the cloudy vision. I press out the feelings and thoughts that do not align with who I am in Christ Jesus. I press toward what God has for me. I press toward God. I press toward the safety of God. I press toward my calling. I press as I walk in my calling, I press on, knowing that there is greater. I press forward, moving, and not stopping.

As the wind blows: press  on

As the storm comes: press on

As the noise comes: press on

As doubt and insecurity come: press on

Come what may from day to day: press on

As the Lord speaks: press on

When we think we can’t hear clearly: press on to hear

No matter what happens, no matter what comes, no matter how I feel in flesh, no matter how much I do not understand, I will press on, knowing that God has called me and anointed me for such a time as this. Press on!
